Giving prominence to the district parks and gardens that are in the shadow of the great green jewels, highlighting the ?middle class of Madrid's parks?. That is the objective of the book "Parks and Gardens of Madrid" (geoPlaneta) by Antonio Morcill o San Juan , a doctor of Montessori engineering, who has developed his professional activity in private companies, in the central, regional and local Administration.

Morcillo is currently the deputy director general of Green Zones and Urban Trees of the Madrid City Council. Author of various books and articles, he also works as associate professor at the ETS of Forestry, Forestry and Natural Environment Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Madrid.

This book that goes on sale on December 31 is a complete illustrated guide to the 120 most important public parks and gardens in Madrid, a city with 3,800 green areas, almost six million trees with more than 500 different species. Along with the description of the most emblematic parks and gardens, of a historical or singular character and of recognized prestige, the reader will find information on many other green areas, proximity spaces that are not the usual object of reviews or publications.

The editorial explains that ?despite the importance of this enormous green heritage, there are not enough studies, works or even descriptive publications for the whole of Madrid. There is no technical literature that comprehensively addresses the sum of the city's parks and gardens ?.

The treatment that has been given to each park is the same, but its extension varies depending on its importance or uniqueness. Initially, general data such as size, year of creation or inauguration, address, access by public transport, etc ... are provided and, later, two blocks are developed. The first is a detailed description of the space and the second highlights historical aspects and curiosities.
