Toledo announces that in March it will have 600 trees and 14,000 new bushes

The municipal government dedicates 400,000 euros to its Plantation Plan in green areas, squares and streets

The city of Toledo expects to have added 600 new trees and 14,000 bushes and plants in green areas, squares and streets between October and March. This was recently announced by the Councilor for Parks and Gardens, Marta Medina , who pointed out that for this the local government is making an investment of 400,000 euros with its Plantation Plan.

These actions include the improvement of the median of Río Guadarrama Avenue with the planting of 75 pear and cypress trees, the work on the Sabatini roundabout between the neighborhoods of San Pedro el Verde and Poblado Obrero with nearly 500 bushes and a new automatic irrigation system. Also included in the plans is the intervention in the median of Paseo de la Rosa in Santa Bárbara in front of the train station with the planting of 41 trees and 786 rose bushes and in the Hortelano roundabout in this same neighborhood where 400 rose bushes have already been planted .

Likewise, 1,180 plants and shrubs have been planted in the access gardens to the Paseo de San Eugenio Municipal Cemetery, and 95 trees and 4,985 shrubs will be planted in the roundabouts and median around the Polígono University Hospital with an investment of 170,297 euros.

The Toledo City Council also highlights the replacement of trees in several squares and streets with an investment of 18,000 euros, which includes the removal of stumps to prepare the pits and spaces with new substrate. Added to these projects are the plantations contemplated until next March by the company responsible for maintaining these spaces, which will involve 336 trees and 3,202 bushes with a budget of 89,000 euros.

Regarding the replacement of the trees, the person in charge of Parks and Gardens affirms that each newly planted tree carries a study to choose the most suitable species and select the correct planting time.
