IFEMA has wanted to match the beginning of the celebration of its 40th Anniversary with the announcement of the immediate execution of its Expansion in Valdebebas. A project in which the institution will invest up to the year 2023, a total of 180 million euros, an amount which the entity will face with own resources generated by its own activity. In the act of submission, carried out using as a support the large digital display that IFEMA has added to its South Door, on the building of offices, have participated, among others, the President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Diaz Ayuso; the Mayor of the capital, José Luis Martínez Almeida, the Vice-president of the Community of Madrid, Ignacio Aguado; the Deputy mayor of Madrid, Begoña Villacís; the President of the Official Chamber of Industry of Madrid, Angel Asensio, and the President of the Foundation Montemadrid, Jesus Nunez, representing the highest-level entities that form the consortium, as well as the Chairman of the Executive Committee of IFEMA, Clemente González Soler, and its Director General, Eduardo López-Doors.

The construction of the Expansion of IFEMA Valdebebas, which, in the words of the Chairman of the Executive Committee of IFEMA, Clemente González Soler "ensure the fulfilment of the ambitious plan for growth that the institution has been marked, and that is expected to surpass 200 million of annual revenue by 2022", is occupying in several phases on a plot with a total area of 500.662 m2 and a buildability maximum of 250,000 m2, that is already attached to the current campus, with a large tunnel connection under the M 11 is completely finished. The realization of this expansion of the infrastructures IFEMA will mean equally to raise the capacity of generating wealth for Madrid, considering that could have an impact by adding up to 1,200 million more than the eur 4.374 million that it already provides each year to its environment.

Its first phase will begin in October of this year, and due to end in June 2021. In their set will add 50,000 square meters of exhibition, meetings and services, thanks to the construction of two new pavilions (which we call 21 and 22) of 10,800 m2 each; two cores of the connection between the two that add up to 4.846 m2; the Building, the Avenue, the area cut for logging, services and rooms, which will occupy 9.425m2, and a Convention Center 13.281 m2, on the ground floor and basement. Singularly, one of these new pavilions will be separated with sliding partitions so that it can welcome up to 4 different events simultaneously. In addition, it will be the site of three car parks which will add a capacity of 2.241 cars and 500 vehicles industrial and commercial. The investment budget for this phase is eur 125 million.

So that corresponds to the phase two of IFEMA Valdebebas, whose completion is scheduled in September 2023, with a budget of 55 million euros, the performance more unique will be the construction of the so-called pavilion 23, with a great dimension of 21.735 m2, as well as the expansion in 4.050 m2 of the Building Avenue, and a parking area for uses in logistics with a capacity for 400 vehicles.

The Building Avenue and the Convention Centre will have a surface area of 2.370m2 meeting, and may be configured in various formats with a minimum of 11 and a maximum of 19 rooms. For its part, there will be 2.440 m2 of restoration zones, including a singular restaurant of 1,000 m2 with views of the Pavilion 23. Other relevant services for its dimensions will be, for example, the creation of a large wardrobe, with a capacity of more than 40,000 coat hangers and 6,000 suitcases.

The global data of IFEMA Valdebebas will be 48.181 m2 built-up area of pavilions and cores; 13.475 m2 of the Building Avenue (including 2.440 m2 for restoration); 13.281m2, corresponding to the ground floor and basement of the Convention Center, and 4.733 m2 of warehouses. These data amount to a constructible surface of 79.670 m2. To this was added 2.572 m2 of the thermal power plant; 111.483 m2 of car park, and 64.604 m2 of outdoor areas that can be targeted to different outdoor activities.

The realization of these two phases of IFEMA Valdebebas does not exhaust, however, the ability of development of new infrastructure, such as the expansion of the convention center or the impulse of a special area for associated uses, among which may be seen the construction of a commercial center and/or a hotel. Contemplated in the Special Plan which shall be approved by the city Council in the coming weeks.

The joint venture GIS-AYESA is responsible for the drafting of architectural and engineering projects. Once you have finished the same, IFEMA will launch the tendering of the works. Ayesa is a Spanish multinational company, which form part of TOP 100 world of engineering, having been responsible for, among many others, of projects as the Convention Center Amador, panama or the City of the Justice of Cordoba. For its part, GIS is a firm that specializes in the development of projects of urban planning and civil engineering.

40th Anniversary of IFEMA

In the course of the event of presentation has also been given to know the logo that will accompany the 40th Anniversary of IFEMA, whose programme of celebration throughout this year and the set of 2020 will be published shortly, although it has been argued that the goal is to put the value the enormous contribution of this institution to Madrid.

IFEMA began its activity in 1980, the year in which they were held in its facilities of the Feria de Madrid 15 fairs, which were visited by a million people and counted with the participation of 2200 exhibitors, with a total capacity of 93.000 square feet of net area. Today there are more than 100 exhibitions and 600 congresses, conventions and professional events that are held each year, with the participation of more than 33,000 companies and more than 3.5 million visitors.

Throughout this time, 100 million visitors and 760,000 exhibiting companies have participated in nearly 2,100 trade fairs held at IFEMA, in addition to more than 10,000 conferences, conventions and corporate events and leisure, which gives an idea of the activity generated by this organization and its positive impact both on the commercial development of the economic sectors, as in their geographical environment, for which it has been able to mean, to current value, revenue induced excess of 50,000 million euros.
