
The Spanish exports of flowers and live plants added from January to October of 2019 a total of 375,6 million euros, which translates into an increase of 4% compared to the same period in 2018, according to figures from the Department of Customs and excise analyzed by Fepex.
According to the state statistics, the sales of living plant from January to October, 2019, amounted to ? 309 million euros - which represents a 1% over the previous year-, of which 124 million corresponded to an outdoor plant and 60 million euros to the plant interior. With respect to the export of cut flower, rose to 45 billion euros, up 19%, of which 16 billion were pink and 8 million euros to carnation. Also, the sales of foliage totaled 17 million euros (+23%) and the bulbs are increased by 10%, resulting in 4.7 million.
The cut flower, to the head of imports
With regard to the import, stood at 213 million euros, 9% more. The living plant is amounted to 107 million euros -8% more in the period analyzed-the of cut flowers amounted to ? 84 million euros (+11%), while the bulbs came to 12.6 million euros (+2%) and the foliage of 8.6 million euros (+9%).
So, from Fepex highlights that of the four subgroups that make up the foreign trade sector of flower and living plant -living plant or ornamental, cut flower, foliage and bulbs -Spain exports more plant life and foliage that matters, while the country is in deficit in cut flowers and bulbs.
