Description:
Canadian deciduous shrub about 3-8 m high widely used for its abundant flowering. Light green leaves that turn red in autumn, deciduous and lanceolate similar to those fine pears but covered with fine hair.
Flowering occurs in spring, appearing in small clusters of flowers that appear at the ends of the branches. The flowers are small and white two-inch diameter. Purple bracts that fall when the flower opens.
The fruits appear in June and are small red blood cells and 8-10mm in a very sweet and edible brown seeds inside.
